AN ANIMATED SHORT FILM
Still Here: A Hero’s Voice
Based on the life of 4th Moon Productions’ CEO/Founder Trishunda Mooney, this captivating story boldly ventures away from the typical illness-focused, documentary format. Audiences are invited on an adventurous ride as Tooty’s, a tenacious Sickle Cell Warrior, childhood is on display to share how she conquers the challenges of everyday life with a Sickle Cell Disease diagnosis with the collaborative help from her Mind, Body, and Spirit.
Trishunda A. Mooney
CEO/Founder of 4th Moon Productions
“Sickle cell disease had a way of reminding me of ‘my’ limitations. At a pivotal moment in my life as a young teen, I felt extremely depressed and was no longer motivated to do anything because I’d always end up sick and/or hospitalized. One day, I turned on the TV and saw something that confirmed I was not crazy to believe I am not my diagnosis. And having a least one child to experience that feeling, is my goal for ‘A Hero’s Voice.’” - TAM

Positive Representation Matters
Many “warriors” within the sickle cell community believe that the absence of positive portrayal in the media contributes to the community's invisibility and disconnection to the world around them. This void has given rise to myths, misunderstandings, and stigmas associated with SCD, creating significant obstacles for patients in need of care and caregivers supporting their loved ones with the condition.
Mental Health Matters
Complications of sickle cell disease (SCD) can cause a large emotional burden contributing to 35.2% of SCD adults diagnosed with depression. Sporadic bouts with pain, fatigue, and sleep disturbance impacts SCD carriers’ mental quality-of-life outcomes. 4th Moon Productions fully embraces the "if you can see it, you can be it" movement and promotes positive imagery in film that supports the mental wellness needs of persons in under-represented communities.
